Dining out: Hey Nonny's gastropub debuts, Tuscany's free dessert on Sweetest Day

Hey Nonny debuts

Hey Nonny, Arlington Heights' newest gastropub and music venue, opened Wednesday with a farm-to-table menu created by "Tattooed Chef" Jay Ruff. Some of the menu highlights include boards (cheeses, Wisconsin blues, charcuterie), jars (spreads such as duck confit, pork belly and smoked trout), shareables (pork belly poutine with Nonny fries, edamame hummus and roasted bone marrow) and entrees (lamb shank, bone-in wild boar chop, crispy skin trout and heirloom bean ragout). Hours are 4 to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. A grand opening will be held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 26-27.

Head out to Morton Arboretum's Cider and Ale Festival to try beers and ciders from 45 local breweries from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. Taste brews from 2 Fools Cider, Ace Cider, Alter Brewing Company, Blake's Hard Cider Co., Half Acre Beer Company, Hopvine Brewing Co., JK'S Farmhouse Ciders, Midnight Pig Beer, Miskatonic Brewing Company, Pollyanna Brewing Company, Small Town Brewery, Stem Ciders, Vander Mill Ciders and many more. Tuscany Oak Brook wants to make Sweetest Day even sweeter with free dessert on Saturday, Oct. 20. All diners have to do is purchase a dinner entree to get a treat such as tiramisu, cannoli cake, gelato and more for free.

Morton's recently introduced new fall menu items that are available now through December. Try the Nueske's Bacon Steak with sweet mustard glaze; all-natural 10-ounce filet and bone marrow; dry-aged prime bone-in New York steak; sautéed wild mushrooms; and truffled mashed cauliflower.

Also, Morton's will be celebrating its 40th anniversary with a special Mondavi wine dinner at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, called "A Taste of Two Legends." Michael Jordan's hosts South Africa's Ken Forrester Vineyards for an interactive wine dinner at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25. Marthinus Van der Vyyer, International Ambassador for Ken Forrester Winery, will be on hand throughout the dinner to explain the wines. The event will start with a reception of passed appetizers paired with Sparklehorse Sparkling Brut 2015. The three-course seated dinner includes salad paired with Ken Forrester Sauvignon Blanc 2016, South African Cold-Water Lobster Tail and Australian Lamb Chop paired with FMC 2016 & Petit Pinotage 2017, and Midwest Prime Tomahawk Chop and 45-Day Dry-Aged Delmonico paired with The Bridge Cabernet Sauvignon 2013.
