Sound check: Observing With Annie launches Silvie's residency

Residency with Annie

South suburban alternative rock band Observing With Annie hit the gas hard with the spring release of its full-length album “Holiday,” bringing emotionally driven rock to showcases throughout the city and Western suburbs this summer. While the album and the band's previously released self-titled EP passionately deliver intriguing stories with a powerful blend of lyricism, music and imagery, the band is already working on some new releases, due out soon. In the meantime, catch Observing With Annie's energetic live performance when the band launches a four-show residency at Chicago's Silvie's Lounge this weekend, joined for the first show by art rock band Pete Willson & the Rooks and funky soul-inspired licks courtesy of Danger Pony. 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, at Silvie's Lounge, 1902 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago. $10. (773) 871-6239 or silvieslounge.com.

Host Aaron Williams kicks off this month's edition of the Skyline Concert Series with an acoustic set at 8:30 p.m., followed by Matthew Wilke of Blameless Lake, Jarred Mason from The Kings Rising, the alternative rock duo Social Que and progressive pop-rockers Flowtone.
