ABT revives 'Buddy'

American Blues Theater salutes one of the icons of early rock 'n' roll in its final production of the 2017-2018 season, "Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story," starring Zachary Stevenson as the Texas singer/guitarist/songwriter who penned such hits as "Peggy Sue," "That'll Be the Day" and "Everyday." The Claudettes

If you drew a Venn diagram illustrating the overlap between bawdy blues, rowdy rock and manic punk, you could very well find Chicago's The Claudettes at that intersection. I can think of no better way to describe the soulful and engaging songs this band conjures up. The quartet - Johnny Iguana on piano (yes, piano!), Berit Ulseth on vocals, Zach Verdoorn on bass and the mic, Matt Torre on drums - recently released the album, "Dance Scandal at the Gymnasium!"
