High schools in Cary, Elmhurst and Lisle were among those recognized Monday for achievement by Broadway in Chicago during its 6th Annual High School Musical Theater Awards.

York Community High School in Elmhurst received the best production award for "West Side Story." Cary-Grove High School in Cary received the Grosh Scenic Design Award for its production of "Evita."

The best direction award went to Lauren Condon and Brian Wand for Benet Academy in Lisle's production of "All Shook Up."

Benet Academy student Justin Smusz of Bolingbrook received the best actor award for his performance as Chad in "All Shook Up." Carly Meyer, formerly a Suburban Chicago's Got Talent top 10 finalist, received the best actress award for her performance as Hodel in "Fiddler on the Roof." Meyer, of Northbrook, attends Glenbrook North High School.
