Goodman: Stacy Keach suffered mild heart attack during 'Pamplona' premiere
Goodman Theatre confirmed Tuesday that actor Stacy Keach suffered a mild heart attack during the May 30 opening of "Pamplona," Jim McGrath's new, one-character drama about Ernest Hemingway's later life.
Goodman artistic director Robert Falls halted the opening-night performance about an hour into the 80-minute show when it became apparent Keach, 76, was unwell and struggling. Goodman subsequently canceled the remaining performances scheduled through June 25.
Cardiac rehabilitation and rest should lead to Keach's complete recovery, according to doctors.
"I remain awed by Stacy's courage and strength after experiencing such a disturbing event," said Falls in a prepared statement. "His spirits are high and he is resting and recovering comfortably."
