Family seeks a cozy ambience for their yard

I would love help with our backyard space! My husband loves to garden and landscape our beautiful yard but our patio needs some serious uplifting. It lacks color and ambience. It is truly bland!

We would love to have an area to hang out with family and friends to eat meals together and make our patio an extension of our home. Family meals are very important to us. We'd like an area to eat together and to also double as an area to just relax and hang out. A fire pit or focal point would add some much needed color and ambience. We are ready to spruce up and enjoy our patio space that overlooks our yard.

Allison and her husband would like a backyard where they could have neighbors, friends and family over together for a great meal and to hang out. A few improvements would add the color and ambience this family seeks.

Budget: $2,000

Suggestions

• Concrete stain: A way to bring color to your patio is concrete stain. This Valspar product transforms an ordinary concrete patio into an inviting space. It is available in 24 tintable colors. One gallon will cover 200 to 400 square feet. Prepare your concrete patio with the instructions on the can for the best results. This is a cost-effective way to brighten up and bring color to your patio space!

• Fire pit: I would recommend our Petra gas fire pit for this backyard because Allison talks about the fire pit being a focal part of her back patio. It matches almost anything and everything. You will take pleasure in a fireside visit with your favorite guests while basking in the glow of a cozy fire. A fire pit cover is even included in the box so you can protect it from the weather. Another great feature is you can add lava glass, which is a flame dispersion glass that makes the flame change colors safely! Don't forget the marshmallows!

• Outdoor seating: When buying furniture for your patio, it can be overwhelming at all the different choices and designs. For this backyard, I would recommend a few different options. First is the Jack Post Country Garden Tete-a-Tete. This is the perfect two-seater with a table in the center to sit, have a conversation and relax. Next, a stand-alone hammock would be the seat everyone is wanting. It is also a great place to lean back and relax on a nice sunny day. Otherwise you can have a nice bench to sit around the fire. If you don't like the wood look, you can add a fun fabric cushion to the seat to add comfort and a pop of color.

• Outdoor storage: Make more space in your backyard and patio with an outdoor shed. This is ideal for gardening tools, seat cushions, yard games and so much more. Instead of cluttering the garage or house, this shed will be the perfect alternative, especially since your husband is an avid gardener.
