Force vote on net neutrality

Net Neutrality now lies in the hands of the U.S. Congress and Rep. Peter Roskam after FCC Chairman Ajit Pai started rollbacks on June 11. What is at stake is human rights being taken away from Americans by censoring free speech.

This will endanger not only Americans but everyone around the world. That is because internet service providers will be able to decide which websites to censor. Can you imagine if ICE whistle-blower James Schwab had been censored?

In order to stand up for human rights, Americans must create enough of a demand for restoring net neutrality by calling their local congressman to vote in favor of it.

If congressmen feel that there is enough of a demand, only then will they set up a vote. This is known as forcing a vote. And is essential for upholding human rights in America. This is done so by signing a discharge petition in order to force a vote on net neutrality on the House of Representatives floor.

The deadline for congressmen to sign it is on Monday, July 23.

What Roskam and other congressmen need to take into consideration is that online news, social media, blogs and opposing views can all be censored if they do not sign.
