Do leaders know us?

So we have two men running for governor who are multi-millionaires, a current president who says he is a billionaire, and the average net worth of the members of Congress is $1,008,767.

Nothing wrong with being wealthy. Most of us aspire to do so. But you have to wonder if people of that income level can really understand and adequately represent the rest of us, specifically when they run their campaigns on contributions from large corporations and Political Action Committees. I am thinking that those corporations and PACs expect something in return. So it is no wonder that the average American struggles with providing for college, health care and the other basics.

The only way to change this is to elect people who understand who we are and understand our lives. Democracy is hard and really depends on how much effort we put in to electing good people. Maybe we need to pay less attention to what party people belong to as it seems both Republicans and Democrats are good enough at taking the big money and then violating our trust and not helping solve our issues and maybe pay more attention to if they are people who can understand who we are and that they do not take money from big corporations and PACs, so we know that they truly represent us and not the groups that paid to put them in office. Our choice.
