We seemed to be on a road to progress

I want to thank Charles Danyus for his wonderful letter of June 18. You as a black man so eloquently touched on important issues that so many are too afraid to talk about.

As a white Irish American woman, I remember 50 years ago as well, when all the protesting we did downtown, for racial equality, peace, love and all the equality you touched upon seemed to finally be heading in the right and fair direction.

What has happened? We have traveled back in time and I shake my head. Defiance, scams, anger, lack of respect, greed, blame game, sense of entitlement ... and on and on.
