Village's priorities are not in order

The trustees of Mount Prospect evidently feel they have carte blanche when it comes to the coffers of the city. Paul Hoefert seems to be the only trustee looking out for the residents of this city regarding the $40 million that will be needed to relocate and build a new police and fire department.

If you recall, years ago when they asked residents to build the fire department at the existing location, the answer was "no." It was built anyway.

Mayor Juracek said time was of the essence due to interest rates and being able to secure the sites for this new endeavor.

Time has not been a factor in preventing death by building a pedestrian crossover bridge at Central and Busse roads. On June 10, 2016, Joni Beaudry, 55, of Mount Prospect, was struck and killed while riding her bike. She was struck by a black, Lexus SUV on Weller Lane as she tried to cross Central Road just after 9:40 a.m.

In fact, our village trustees paid the same company that designed the existing grid $38,000 to discuss all the options to rectify the safe crossing.

Yesterday's article stated they are no further along, and they now say they need the park district's contributions and opinions and say nothing has been resolved.

What did the trustees pay $38,000 for? It is going on two years this June since Joni Beaudry died. Must somebody else die before they do something?

They don't seem to have a problem spending millions and I doubt if it will take them two years to break ground (on the new police and fire station).

Our residents need to attend the village hall meetings and voice our concerns and demand accountability.
