ERA harms women
Do we really want a "genderless society"? Aren't women and men biologically different?
In the past there have been protections for women and children, such as the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program. They would be eliminated.
Women would be included in any military draft and frontline combat. Laws and presumptions that support women (alimony, child support, husbands paying for wives' medical bills) would be eliminated. A wife will have to pay her husband's debts even if he deserted her with children to support. Women will have to pay the same automobile insurance rates as men even if statistically they have better driving rates.
Will our U.S. Constitution be better if Illinois passes SJRCA4? Lawyers will have a field day if the Illinois House passes this bill. Contact your state Representative now and tell her or him to vote no.
