Proposed gas-tax increase part of the problem

In response to the proposed 2-cents-a-gallon tax increase proposed by St. Charles officials, I offer the following:

Alderman Ron Silkaitis states the tax increase is warranted due to "growing expenses and declining state revenue." Unfortunately, this is the thinking of most politicians, especially in Illinois. They never consider cutting bloated budgets or challenging excessive union contracts as a method of cutting costs.

Declining state revenue is caused, in large part, by people leaving this corrupt state in droves due to some of the highest taxes in the country.

So. go ahead, Alderman Silkaits, raise the gas tax in St. Charles and watch even more citizens leave this state in droves. Tax the last remaining resident at say 1,000 percent of their income; then, they too will leave. Will the last person to leave this state please turn the lights off.
