Elect candidates who will act on guns

It is not too soon, as our Republican politicians might suggest, to discuss common-sense gun reform and renewing the ban on assault weapons, such as the one used Feb. 14 in Parkland, Florida, to mow down 17 innocent people in a school. The time for talking and acting is way overdue.

What makes anyone think that this violent trend will discontinue with nothing more than "thoughts and prayers?"

The Republicans have held the majority in the House since 2010 and the majority in the Senate since 2014. Anyone who says the "problem" is on both sides of the aisle is incorrect. To prove the point, send Republicans packing in November. They have done absolutely nothing to address this issue, which the majority of Americans want addressed.

We can start in the 6th Congressional District, where Peter Roskam has enjoyed an A-plus grade from the NRA since 2010.

Remind every voter - Democrat, Republican, Independent - of this fact. Send someone to Washington, D.C., who will do the people's bidding, not the NRA's.
