To lower property taxes, change the system

With the high level of property taxes in Illinois vs. the balance of the U.S., what are our the elected politicians doing to resolve this major issue?

As a retired Fortune 500 staff worker, if we were in a poor financial condition, we would change the system. The system in this case is using property taxes to pay for schools. At this point in time, the politicians at all levels of Illinois government only raise the taxes.

Suggestion for the politicians: Contact other state governments and learn their way of running their school systems; consolidate the numerous school districts and eliminate many of the administrative job.

There are 1,070 school districts in Illinois. Other states that have consolidated became more cost-effective without affecting the quality of education for the students.

Sixty percent of our property taxes pay for each school district.

Consolidate districts and reduce administration staff, which reduces costs and property taxes.

Do your job politicians. That is why you were elected. Reducing these taxes will keep current residents in Illinois.
