Let's see data in the gun debate

It is obvious that the pro-gun and anti-gun groups have difficulty accepting any facts and/or figures from the other side. This is understandable when one appreciates the high level of emotion on the subject from either side and the need to justify one's position, however ludicrous, to self and to others. However, it would appear we have reached a new level of "fake facts" when a writer to "Your View" on Feb. 21 said that "guns save lives more than a million times a year." It would be fascinating to see what data, if any, supports this extreme position. If the data is not there, an apology to the readers of the Daily Herald would clearly be in order.
