Candidate's sorry tone in campaign for governor

Just this past week I heard part of the debate between Gov. Rauner and Jeanne Ives. It was a nasty exchange of words on Ms. Ives' part. Today, I read the article in the Daily Herald on her advertising strategy for the governor's race and again, I am saddened by the tone of her campaigning.

I was hopeful that the nastiness and lies of the 2016 campaign were behind us. I was pleased to see the Illinois Republican Party Chairman & Cook County commissioner disavow Ives' television ads as divisive and beneath the state of Illinois politics.

But the worst part of the article is that there are people who disagree with her "cringe-worthy" and "jarring" ads, and "the way she messages" but will still vote for her. Is this the type of person we want running our state?

We are better than this, and I for one will not vote for Jeanne Ives. I want to see a governor's race based on the issues, not this dirty and mean-spirited messaging.
