Let's work to end devastating disease

Responding to the Herald's gracious invitation to write about Christmas, I submit my request to its readers to help millions of victims affected by Lyme disease, by ticks, fleas, and just about all moving creatures that launch small disease-infested insects that virtually rob the very lives of its victims.

Therefore, I'm proposing that the state of Illinois create an annual "Lyme disease Day" to attract publicity and funding for research to end this plague that's been harvesting the very existence of our youngest, those in their middle years, and our oldest for the past 46 years!

As we know, maladies incurred by human beings are neither politically nor religiously based but by the complex tragedy of mankind from its earliest beginnings.

In the Spirit of Christmas can we mobilize our energies and efforts to make this happen?
