Failed 'trickle down' agenda is not reform

It should be no surprise that under the false promise of "trickle-down" economics, which failed under presidents Reagan and Bush, Republicans are pushing another huge tax giveaway to corporations and wealthy donors.

Jobs and wages have remained stagnant since Reagan despite constant GOP assurances it will be different this time. That somehow the steady decline of the middle class and corresponding accumulation of wealth among the top 2 percent has nothing to do with their tax policies of the last 30 years.

Additionally, the Republicans who fulminate about the dangers of the growing federal budget deficit have no problem adding trillions of dollars to the deficit to provide their rich donors with lower tax rates and more deductions. And at the same time, they eliminate deductions for the middle class that will effectively raise their taxes.

I've constantly reminded people that elections matter. The Republicans control Congress and, with the Russians' help, the presidency. So, it appears we're all going to suffer through another round of "trickle down" economics to reward their rich donors via what Trump calls "tax reform."
