Thanks for continued support of Turkey Trot

On behalf of the members of the Naperville Noon Lions Club, I would like to thank the residents of Naperville and surrounding communities and our sponsors for the overwhelming support for our 20th annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. Over 7,500 individuals registered for the event. It is an exciting and fun-filled morning, which has become a family tradition in Naperville. Approximately 80 percent of runners were accompanied by a family member.

Over the last 10 years, we have been able to raise approximately $2 million from this event. These funds, along with funds raised from other events during the year, support or many community programs. Last year alone, we raised over $220,000. Our signature program is to support children and adults with eye examinations, eye glasses and those with hearing disabilities. Over the past fiscal, services were provided to over 350 individuals at no cost to them. In addition, we provided a research grant for the purpose of eliminating inherited retinal diseases and an educational grant to low-vision children for Braille enrichment training and life learning skills. Also, vision examinations were conducted for incoming kindergarten students at Ann Reed Early Childhood Center in Naperville.

Thank you to all who ran with us this Thanksgiving morning. We could not do what we do without you and your support. We hope to see you at our 21st annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning 2018.

Linda Strugalla, President

Naperville Noon Lions Club
