Consider facts before villifying Obama

Just finished reading the letter from Mary Lou Anton telling us in five paragraphs how "appalled" she was that the two presidents Bush that she voted for had the gall to criticize the present occupant of the White House, rather than doing it to the previous occupant, you know - that "abomination" known as Obama.

Well, Ms. Anton, you are not the only "appalled" person living around here. I am one also, appalled how people like you keep telling us what a disaster Obama was for the country, without one example of what he did to deserve this vilification.

Was it the fact he took a country on the verge of a massive depression fostered by the previous administration and gave us 32 quarters of upward growth? He took a market at 6,500 to a market of 18,500 in eight years? Deny it, I dare you.

Is it because on his watch, we got health care that keeps kids on their parents' health plans till the age of 26, and can't be denied coverage for pre-existing conditions, and he did this in spite of a Republican Congress that refused to work with him?

I could go on and on, but people like you don't want to hear it. It's so much more self-satisfying to make these baseless claims. On the other hand, if you would rather have had the major depression we avoided and not be able to get health care for pre-existing conditions, then you are absolutely right - Mr. Obama was a lousy president. Just remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so give us all a chance.
