Ads are misleading about Illinois tax rate

I strongly disapprove of the recent TV political ad in which our bordering state governors thank House Speaker Michael Madigan for raising our taxes in Illinois, thus helping them create jobs in their respective states. The fact of the matter is that only Indiana has a lower effective tax rate. The effective rate in Illinois is 3.75 percent, while the effective rate in Iowa is 4.53 percent, in Missouri 3.88 percent, in Wisconsin 4.35 percent and in Indiana 3.17 percent.

These governors gloat, promote Gov. Bruce Rauner and mislead voters to think their states are better off. As a citizen of Illinois, I find this misleading advertising offensive and insulting.
