Many to thank for K-9 Frisbee event

I'd like to thank the great Daily Herald for all the support and coverage of our K-9 Frisbee World Championship over Labor Day weekend.

We had a terrific event with teams coming in from all over the world to participate. The paper always does a top notch job in covering the news and events of the immediate area.

I also need to thank the Naperville Park District for its outstanding work, as well as Gerald Auto Group, Dog Patch and many other great local businesses.

We had to move the event from the great Jaycees' Last Fling in downtown Naperville to Nike Park because of the lack of consideration from a certain gun club that is a quarter-mile away that would not take one day off from the 100 times they shoot each year, to make sure the gunshots didn't affect the dogs that came into town from as far away as Japan and China.

That would be an issue if the dogs heard that and would then walk off the field. Long trip for nothing in that case. Could they have maybe just shot on Monday, as we politely requested?

And I ask, as we brought in money for the City of Naperville with motel rooms, stores, and restaurants, why city hall did nothing to help this matter. Doesn't the city own that property?

We will be back again next year so I hope all of our pet lovers will come out and watch this world class event. Make it a destination as part of your Last Fling weekend. We do recommend you support the Naperville Jaycees also. A great group for sure.

Finally, thank you so much to my loving family for all of your support.
