Let's see details of economic plans

I read the interview with Peter Roskam in the Sept. 29 issue. In his responses regarding the new tax code being proposed, Mr. Roskam first said, "It's designed toward middle class, middle income families." The he was asked, "What is the income bracket for a so-called middle income family, then?" Mr. Roskam's response was, "That's the great mystery. The brackets are details that have yet to be filled in."

I don't see how he can make the first statement without details like the tax brackets being well defined. In fact it only serves to hide what effect this new tax code will actually have. So far independent analysis, of any details made available, indicate that the rich will experience very large tax cuts and the middle income families, at best, will only experience small tax cuts. At the same time, the deficit will increase dramatically.

This doesn't sound like a good economic decision. This same "supply side" tax cut formula has been tried by two recent administrations (Reagan and Bush 43) and both times it has caused dramatic deficits, while not resulting in the promised growth to offset the revenue losses. More recently Kansas tried the same experiment with the exact same results. So they want to repeat this experiment yet again and somehow they expect a different result. This is just not a logical expectation.

We should all expect, and push for, a fully detailed plan and once that is done for our congressional representatives to have public town halls to present these details to their constituents and get their feedback. If they were really representing us, they would do this. Sadly, most of them, including Mr. Roskam, don't seem willing to do this anymore. So whom are they representing?
