Do we really needs fireworks at Wheeling High school football game?
It's 8:40 p.m. on Friday night, Sept. 15. Loud fireworks are shattering the peace of my Prospect Heights neighborhood, just south of Wheeling High School. I'm virtually certain this is the finale to a football game. Aside from the fact that it's scaring the hell out of my dog, I'm wondering what it costs, and why my real estate taxes, the bulk of which go to the school district, have to pay for this.
I'm 85 years old and have lived in this house for 44 years. If my real estate taxes continue to rise, I'll be forced out. Perhaps some adult at the school district can make a gesture at beginning to economize by abandoning this utterly unnecessary expense.
Or is that asking too much?
