Can't Arlington Heights park district partner with local schools?

Regarding Arlington Heights Park District plans: I would imagine this program would be of benefit to many Arlington Heights residents. However, I question the need tor all of this new construction.

We have many grade and middle school gyms that are idle most evenings, weekends and summers. Prospect High School has a new swim facility.

Why, instead of building new and duplicate facilities, doesn't the park district negotiate an intergovernmental agreement with the school districts to share the use of these existing facilities? Might save a few tax dollars!
