Wheaton College should be ashamed
Our son always had a dream to play NCAA football and he did so at the Division III level. I had encouraged him to seriously consider Wheaton College because of their excellent academic and football reputation, but he chose to go elsewhere. He was a starter all four years, and all four years we lost to Wheaton, but he has no regrets.
It is time for their longtime and very successful coach to go, and with him those college administrators, starting with the athletic director, who in my opinion chose to ignore and bury this travesty of the brutalizing of their freshman player. It apparently happened in the Spring of 2016 and not revealed by the college until felony charges were recently filed against the players.
If charges had not been brought I suspect the aberrant behavior of these individuals would have never been revealed. I believe Wheaton's response at this time is both hypocritical and deceptive. Wheaton was able to continue recruiting during this period of time, and the players allowed to continue playing up until the revelation of this sad commentary on the leadership of the athletic department and the administration.
Wheaton College should hang its collective head in shame, from the president on down. If the facts are true, these perpetrators should get real prison time.
Wheaton College should also pay a price at the league level as well. How about being made to forfeit all games won in which these individuals were allowed to play since the incident?
