Retirement bonanza

I noticed in Tuesday's paper that you had another large article about a police officer "retiring" at only 50 years old. That's not retiring. That's called quitting. I'm not sure why the officer would want everyone to know that he is quitting his job. It gives the appearance that he didn't like his job. It may be because he could receive millions of dollars in pension courtesy of the taxpayers over the next 30 to 40 years, since he's probably making a six-figure salary now. This is an example of why we pay the highest property taxes in the whole country.
