Man shot on Mount Prospect street corner
A man was shot in the back on a Mount Prospect street coroner Wednesday night. A portion of Busse Road was shut down for more than two hours about two blocks south of Golf Road as police investigated the shooting, which occurred about 6:30 p.m.

District 23 hires assistant superintendent
Updated Feb 20, 2012 4:12 PMDonald S. Angelaccio has been hired as assistant superintendent for Prospect Heights School District 23. Angelaccio currently serves as principal of Lincoln Middle School in Mount Prospect School District 57, a position he’s held since 2004.

- Since 1909 when W.D. Boyce brought scouting to America, the guiding principles of the Boy Scouts of America has remained the same; preparing young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Deicke Scout Shop, which is operated by the Boy Scouts of America Three Fires Council, supports the mission of scouting through its large inventory of uniforms, camping equipment, achievement recognitions and more. Plus, the shop serves as a resource center for information and registration of upcoming group outings and activities of the Three Fires Council. In 2010, 357 Eagle Scouts, 16,304 Cub Scouts, 6,574 Boy Scouts, 708 Venturers, and 1,547 Explorers were registered members; plus the Council is proud to serve one of the largest special needs packs in the country. - 14-year old Elisa Maguigad of Downers Grove will share stage time with elite dancers from the world famous Moscow Ballet in a Dec. 10 performance of "The Great Russian Nutcracker" at the Rosemont Theatre. This is the fifth year the talented dancer has been asked to perform with the Moscow Ballet.

- William White explains to Daniel Hoff, Dawn Mattson and Linda Mattson how the VetDog program has enhanced his life. William has had his Labrador Retriever VetDog, Rudy, for a few years. Rudy helps him swim and get out of the pool and with everyday activities. William lost his arm and leg while serving as a Sergeant in the Marines.
