Edward, Elmhurst hospitals earn 'A'

Edward Hospital, in Naperville, and Elmhurst Hospital, part of the Edward-Elmhurst Health system, each earned an A in The Leapfrog Group's Fall 2018 Hospital Safety Grades.

Elmhurst Hospital was also recognized as one of only 42 hospitals in the U.S. to achieve an A in every update since Leapfrog began the Hospital Safety Grades in the spring of 2012.

Of 2,600 hospitals in the country, Edward and Elmhurst are two of 855 that earned A grades, 638 earned a B, 976 earned a C, 164 earned a D and 17 earned an F.

The Leapfrog Group is a national organization committed to improving health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. Leapfrog uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D or F grade twice a year to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms among patients in their care.
