Schaumburg wins Edie Award from Illinois Chamber of Commerce

Schaumburg for the third consecutive year has won an Edie Award from the Illinois Chamber of Commerce for outstanding economic development, officials announced this week.

The Edies honor outstanding economic development projects completed in the previous calendar year that bring jobs, growth and prosperity to Illinois communities.

Schaumburg's most recent achievement is its inclusion in the Illinois tollway project that invested $780 million in the new Illinois Route 390 from Hanover Park to Wood Dale.

In 2017, the chamber honored Zurich Insurance Group with an Edie Award for its new 784,000-square-foot headquarters on the Motorola Solutions campus. The facility is responsible for a statewide economic impact of $1.3 billion annually and is Schaumburg's largest employer, with more than 2,500 workers, according to the village.

"We're pleased that Schaumburg has played a major role in completing projects that attract business opportunities, spur development, and create jobs in our community," Schaumburg Economic Development Director Matt Frank said in an announcement of the award.
