Art Van Furniture plans opening celebration in Gurnee

Art Van Furniture, a furniture and mattress retailer, will celebrate the grand opening of its new, 30,000-square-foot showroom at 6911 W. Grand Ave., Gurnee on Saturday, July 14 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Gurnee location will become the company's 15th store to open in Chicagoland since 2013. The Warren, Michigan company has other locations in Kildeer, Schaumburg, Algonquin, Glendale Heights, Downers Grove and Batavia.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 8:45 a.m. Local dignitaries will be in attendance, including Gurnee trustees Jeanne Balmes and Tom Hood, and Gurnee Chamber of Commerce Chairman Nick Phillips, Treasurer Garrett Koncan, Secretary Terri Peterson, Executive Director Elmer Fallos, and board members Dan Kloczkowski, Mark LeVine and Richard Diesterheft. Committed to supporting the communities it serves, Art Van Furniture will make a $2,500 donation to the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

"Art Van has been welcomed and woven into the fabric of more than a dozen Chicagoland cities during the past three years," said Barry Davidson, vice president and general manager of Art Van Furniture in Chicagoland. "We look forward to providing our Gurnee guests with our special brand of customer-focused service to help them enhance, update and beautify their homes."

The public is invited to tour the store as well as enjoy music, refreshments, face painting and more. Guests can also register to win a $5,000 shopping spree (no purchase necessary).

The Gurnee showroom will feature Art Van PureSleep and Detroit Sofa Co. galleries and carry many popular name brand furniture collections by Cindy Crawford, La-Z-Boy and more.
