B.Good seeks last restaurant space in Woodfield outlot

B. Good, a fast-casual restaurant chain featuring natural and locally produced ingredients, aims to be the final dining component of the three-building outlot development north of Woodfield Mall called Woodfield Gatherings.

The proposed eatery will be before the Schaumburg village board at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, seeking approval of a special-use permit for the 2,100-square-foot space at 1721 E. Golf Road.

B. Good would be at the east end of Woodfield Gatherings' middle building, next to the 4,264-square-foot space where Kura Sushi is expected to open in late October, according to Schaumburg Landscape and Sustainability Planner Martha Dooley.

Restaurants already open in the new development just west of Firestone are Naf Naf Grill, MOD Pizza, Honeygrow and, in its own 6,800-square-foot building, Chuy's.

Approval of B. Good would leave two vacant spaces reserved for retail tenants, Dooley said.

B. Good looks for local sources for its food, its proteins include no antibodies or growth hormones, it has no preservatives in any of its ingredients, and its eggs are free-range, she added.

The restaurant also features seasonal ingredients listed on a chalk board.

"I think it's an interesting concept for a chain-type restaurant," Dooley said.

The Woodfield Gatherings location would be among the Massachusetts-based chain's first in the Illinois market, with none yet open.

Besides Massachusetts, B. Good has locations in Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Virginia and Vermont. Non-U. S. locations are in Ontario, Canada; Nurnberg, Germany; and Basel and Zurich, Switzerland.

A sign outside the proposed Schaumburg site predicts a summer 2018 opening, but Dooley said the restaurant would be eligible for a building permit only after approval of its special-use permit.

Representatives of B. Good were not available for comment Friday.
