Fox Valley SCORE named large chapter of the year

SCORE, the nation's largest network of volunteer, expert business mentors congratulates its Fox Valley chapter on being named SCORE's Large Chapter of the Year for 2017 by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

SCORE Fox Valley's volunteers provide client services to existing Small Businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs throughout the Chicagoland counties of DuPage, DeKalb, Kendall, Kane, Will and McHenry, as well as the Rockford metropolitan area

SCORE Fox Valley was awarded this honor out of SCORE's 300 chapters nationwide for its success in reaching and recruiting an extraordinary number of local small business clients. In the past fiscal year, SCORE Fox Valley volunteers provided nearly 5,700 client services. These included mentoring to more than 2,600 clients in 16 locations in the Fox Valley area. In the same year, the chapter also provided a remarkable 180 free or low-cost workshops to approximately 3,100 current business owners and impassioned entrepreneurs. Survey data estimates that with SCORE Fox Valley's help, 432 new businesses opened last year, in turn generating 657 non-owner jobs.

Ed Peterlinz, chairman of the chapter, said; "This is the result of a lot of dedicated and hard work by our members. They have successfully created a professional organization that helps strengthen the communities in our service area. We appreciate that our work is being recognized."

SCORE is a partner of the Small Business Administration. Locally, SCORE works with Small Business Development Centers and community organizations, such as chambers of commerce, banks and libraries to deliver free client mentoring, round tables, and free or low-cost workshops.
