Antunes completes expansion of headquarters

Antunes, a family owned and operated company specializing in the manufacturing of food service equipment, recently completed an expansion of its Carol Stream headquarters - a project that broke ground in October 2016. The expansion added approximately 55,000 square feet to the campus, including increased manufacturing capabilities and new amenities for employees.

Antunes added eight new full assembly lines, each able to run four different models within a product category like toasters or steamers - increasing manufacturing capacity by 40 percent. Additionally, the new 20,000-square-foot fabrication area features innovative equipment for greater efficiency.

Through the expansion, the company also established a dedicated space for its maintenance apprenticeship program. This program includes 100 hours of foundational coursework and 400 hours of specialized maintenance training, such as OSHA safety training, blueprint reading, precision measurement and asset management.

Antunes team members benefit from a number of new or enhanced facilities designed to promote wellness, continuing education and collaboration. These additions include a 5,000-square-foot wellness center featuring exercise and recreational equipment an on-site health center providing a range of health services through Advocate at Work and an expanded cafeteria with a 30 percent larger seating capacity for corporate events

"We are extremely pleased with the advancements we've made to our corporate headquarters and what they represent for the future of Antunes," said CEO Glenn Bullock. "This expansion demonstrates our commitment to investing in the resources needed to continually improve our company, as well as the well-being of our team members."

Antunes was established as a part of the Chicagoland business community in 1955 by August J. Antunes, and since that time has occupied six different locations.

"My father would be so amazed and proud of the many improvements that we have made for our team members," said Jane Antunes Bullock.

In 1998, the leadership team's desire to bring all manufacturing processes and office space into one building led them to break ground on the Carol Stream headquarters - which now totals 170,000 square feet.
