Scorched Earth Brewing expands in Algonquin

Scorched Earth Brewing Co. in Algonquin has completed the first phase of an expansion project that will increase the square footage of the brewery twofold in 2018.

The first phase of the business at 203 Berg St. includes the addition of a new tap room space, doubling seating with authentic German beer garden tables, adding new flat screen TVs, and providing access to additional restrooms. The walls were painted by Crystal Lake native Corey Hagberg in a "street-art" mural style featuring the brewery's Hickster and Giant Killer brand artwork.

Co-owner Mike Dallas said, "the space is inviting; it's eye candy for our fans and customers." With the first phase complete, co-owner Jennifer Dallas said "the brewery now has the ability to book private parties and special events, something we were unable to accommodate in the past."

The next phase of the expansion is expected to be complete by this summer with more taps, a new Crowler canning system for "to go" beer, more space for entertainment and music, indoor games, seating, and much more. "It's going to be a very exciting year for the brewery, one of growth and new adventures," Mike Dallas said.
