Crystal Lake firm acquires law firm

Carl E. Metz II announced the legal team of Metz, Gilmore & Vaclavek LLC has acquired The Law Offices of David R. Gervais.

David R. Gervais has been appointed to the Circuit Court judicial branch of McHenry County. The newly formed law firm of Metz, Gilmore & Vaclavek, LLC is led by Gervais colleagues Carl E. Metz II and Kelly Vaclavek, who will be joined by attorney Carl Gilmore.

"We are honored to carry on the legacy of David R. Gervais with the same staff to serve his former clients' needs," said Carl E. Metz II. "The team of Metz, Gilmore & Vaclavek, LLC will provide legal counsel and advocacy for families and businesses. Our offices will continue to be located at Veteran Point on the northeast corner of Route 176 and Walkup Avenue in Crystal Lake."

Carl E. Metz II has practiced law since 1994 with an emphasis on business, contracts, construction law, commercial litigation, catastrophic loss litigation, mechanics/ construction liens and probate. He is licensed in Illinois and Wisconsin. Metz has lectured and presented at numerous trade associations and client events. He has edited the Illinois and Wisconsin sections on liens in the Manual of Credit and Commercial Laws published annually by the National Association of Credit Management.

Carl Gilmore also has practiced law since 1994, and has spent his career in family law and litigation. He is licensed in Illinois and Wisconsin. Gilmore has written a book, Illinois Parentage Law, as well as chapters on adoption and parentage in other legal publications. He served as president of the McHenry Bar Association and was selected Illinois State Bar Association's Young Lawyer of the Year in 2000. Gilmore is serving his second term on the Woodstock School District 200 board, and is the current president.

Kelly Vaclavek has focused her practice in the areas of adoption, divorce, juvenile delinquency, abuse and neglect law, traffic and criminal law since passing the bar in 2007. She is active in the McHenry County Bar Association and has previously served on the Board of Governors as the Family Section Liaison and was recently the Social Chair. She is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association.
