Sodick completes 'Ferrari of showrooms' in Schaumburg

Sodick Inc., a global equipment maker for the dies and molds industry, has completed its North American headquarters in Schaumburg with a showroom for customers, the company reports.

Northern Builders Inc. recently completed the 40,231-square-foot corporate headquarters billed as the "Ferrari of showrooms."

It features high-end finishes, such as quartz floors and extra large windows for more natural light, said officials from Schiller Park-based Northern Builders Inc.

Sodick machines are used for the production of dies and molds and other various applications that cannot be produced by standard machining methods.

This new development headquarters incorporates feng shui and green building design features as well as an equipment showroom with floor-to-ceiling glass, corporate office space, training rooms and engineering facilities for EDM machine testing.

Located at 601 Commerce St. within Woodfield Business Center, the property obtained a Class 6B real estate tax incentive and construction was completed in less than five months.

The company has 80 local employees and plans to hire another 10 employees, company officials have said.

Sodick, which is based in Japan, has more than 3,200 employees worldwide. The North American company also has offices in Yorba Linda, California, and Rockaway, New Jersey.

Along with Northern Builders and Sodick Inc., Harris Architects and NAI Hiffman collaborated on the project.
