Steinhafels furniture coming to Crystal Lake

Steinhafels furniture superstore is expected to open next fall in Crystal Lake.

Steinhafels is a fourth generation, family-owned business based in Wisconsin. It plans to bring 50 new jobs to the area.

Since opening in 1934, Steinhafels Furniture has been providing home furnishings and home décor choices for a wide variety of tastes and budgets. The company serves Wisconsin and northern Illinois with a total of 17 stores; Crystal Lake to be the 18th.

Crystal Lake is the company's second Illinois location. The other is in Vernon Hills.

Steinhafels and the Crystal Lake shopping center owner, IRC Retail Centers, are making substantial investments to refresh and rebuild the space at 5846 Northwest Hwy. "We're excited for Steinhafels to join the Crystal Lake business community," said Crystal Lake Mayor Aaron Shepley.

The 99,089 square-foot furniture superstore, between Best Buy and Ross Dress for Less will offer an extensive selection of home décor and furniture including seasonal furniture and a clearance center.

The first one in Illinois, pictured here, operates in Vernon Hills.
