Fine silk store opening in Downers Grove

Home & Manor Design Center, specializing in fine silk and linen fabrics, will open its first U.S. store at 7325 Lemont Road in Downers Grove at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

The company is a direct importer of pure hand-woven silks and linens with hundreds of fabrics on display at the new store.

It is a supplier of premium, luxurious home furnishing and home decor products. The retailer also features silk dress materials, offering quality silk fabric, upholstery, textiles and silk for shirts, ties, scarves, lingerie and sleepwear.

Owner Sheikh Parwez and his family live in the Downers Grove area, so they chose to establish the family's first retail location in town.

Sheikh Parwez was born in the town of Bhagalpur recognized worldwide as the silk city of India where silk weaving is a traditional household industry.

The Parwez family has been in the textile manufacturing business for more than three generations.

Committed to giving back to the community and keeping in line with the core values of their company, the Home & Manor family decided to support SEASPAR by donating all proceeds from its grand opening event. The South-East Association for Special Parks and Recreation (SEASPAR) provides dynamic recreation programs and services for individuals with disabilities served by the park districts of several western suburbs. They offer year-round programming for all ages and disabilities, including weekly programs, special events and cooperative programs with local schools, nursing homes, group homes and more.

“We are always challenging ourselves to make a positive difference in our communities. We are dedicated to doing what we can, where we can and how we can to make a positive impact to society” says Parwez.

The grand opening party will showcase hundreds of luxurious handmade silk and linen products in addition to unique home décor pieces. As you explore the showroom, you feel as if you are moving through an elegantly decorated home or manor house — hence the name, Parwez said.
