Snapchat goes down, users vent on Twitter

Annoyed Snapchat users turned to Twitter late Monday afternoon to vent their frustration that the social media site was down.

Users were unable to send messages or pictures on Snapchat, a popular app for sending selfies and keeping "streaks" for how many days straight you use the app.

Snapchat said "We're aware of the issue and working on a fix" and recommended staying logged into the account.

Suburban users said they started noting problems with the popular app at about 2 p.m. The problem was solved for most users at about 5 p.m.

During that time, disgruntled Snapchat users voiced their frustration on Twitter.

"When you realize how dependent your generation is on technology when Snapchat goes down, then we all go to twitter to complain #SnapchatDown," one user said.

Another person tweeted, "2017: People complaining on one Social Media app that another Social Media app is down #SnapchatDown."
