Providence Bank names new director

SOUTH HOLLAND - Trinity Christian College President Kurt D. Dykstra has been appointed to Providence Bank & Trust's board of directors.

"Kurt is an accomplished business leader and an experienced board member in both the public and nonprofit sectors," said Steven Van Drunen, Providence Bank & Trust's President & Chief Executive Officer. "We are confident that he will add great value to our board of directors and that Providence Bank & Trust will benefit from his counsel, insight and judgment."

Prior to serving as president at the Palos Heights college, Dykstra served as mayor of the city of Holland, Michigan, and as the senior vice president and community president of Mercantile Bank of Michigan. He earned his bachelor of arts (magna cum laude) at Northwestern College and his juris doctor at Marquette University Law School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, graduating first in class (summa cum laude).

He is a former judicial law clerk for a justice on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, practiced law for 15 years at two National Law Journal 250 firms, and was a part-time member of the Hope College faculty.

Kurt and his wife, Leah, have two daughters and reside in Palos Heights.

Providence Bank & Trust, headquartered in South Holland, has locations in Cicero, Elmhurst, Frankfort, Orland Park, Shorewood, Oak Lawn, Wheaton and Palos Heights, and in Dyer/St. John, Munster and Schererville, Indiana.
