World Comic Con Chicago brings out the kid in everyone

An array of expos and conventions take place throughout the suburbs.

One, more lighthearted convention that draws tens of thousands of visitors annually is Wizard World Comic Con Chicago.

At the end of August, people packed the four-day event held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont.

Participants perused endless aisles of T-shirts, artwork, books and games featuring their favorite characters. They also enjoyed the wide range of entertainment, including video game tournaments, virtual reality displays and Saber Legion combats.

Looking ahead

There are many other trade shows and expos coming up in the suburbs. Here are a few of the highlights.

SMTA International Electronics Exhibition: Sept. 19, 20 at Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont.

SMTA International is a two-day event that showcases products like automotive electronics, semiconductor process technology, 3D-integration, Nanobio for life sciences etc. in the automation & robotics, electronics & electrical goods industries.

Global Food Equipment & Technology Show: Sept. 19-22 at McCormick Place, Chicago.

A four-day event that showcases products like dairy, bakery and snacks, meat/poultry/seafood, confectionery, fruit and vegetable, beverages in the food & beverage industry.

Health & Fitness Expo: Sept. 24 at Soldier Field, Chicago.

Health & Fitness Expo showcases products from ayurvedic & herbal, medical and pharmaceutical industries. The expo focuses on the health, fitness and wellness of runners and endurance athletes.

Path to Purchase Expo: Sept. 26-28 at Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont.

Marketers, retailers and agency professionals attend the industry educational conference and trade show to learn actionable strategies that influence decision-making along the path to purchase. Attendees will collaborate with more than 120 exhibitors to find solutions that increase sales through research and insights, point of purchase displays, merchandising tools, loyalty programs, digital and mobile engagement, and augmented and virtual reality.

Hida Streamlining Healthcare Conference & Exhibition: Sept. 26-28 at Hyatt Regency O'Hare, Rosemont.

A three-day event that showcases a wide range of products and services such as various health care products and services health care equipments, medical products and services and many more in the medical and pharmaceutical industry.

Cwieme Chicago: Oct. 3-5 at Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont.

CWIEME Chicago exhibits coil winding, insulation and electrical manufacturing exhibitions that are extremely narrow focused events that are devoted to components, machinery and materials used in the manufacture and repair of electric coils, motors and transformers.

The largest display of coil winding, electrical manufacturing equipment and electrical insulations materials under one roof in North America.

Mecum Auction: Oct. 5-7 at Schaumburg Convention Center, Schaumburg.

Mecum Auctions, the world's largest collector-car auction company, will return to Schaumburg with an estimated 1,000 classic and collector cars on offer.

This year's lineup will be highlighted by an unprecedented selection of high-quality American muscle cars among the vast array of offerings including Corvettes, Hot Rods, Resto Mods, classics and more.
