Naperville eyes 5th Avenue redevelopmen

Naperville has received redevelopment proposals for several properties near the 5th Avenue train station from eight companies, including two from Naperville, two from Oak Brook, one from Chicago, one from Itasca, one from Indiana and one from New York.

The companies responded to a request for qualifications put out in February.

A stakeholder committee led by Mayor Steve Chirico is now reviewing materials from the companies to determine which are the most qualified. Select firms will be invited to participate in interviews in July before the city plans to seek more detailed proposals for redevelopment this fall.

The plans could revitalize sites near the train station, including four parking lots, a water tower and former public works facility, a small business building, and the DuPage Children's Museum property.
