Aldi to open new store in Chicago

BATAVIA - Aldi, a discount grocer based in Batavia, said Wednesday it is opening a new store in the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago on June 15.

The store will tout a new look with more spacious aisles and checkout lanes, bright colors, high ceilings and more natural lighting, the company said.

The company also said it has removed all MSG, synthetic colors and partially hydrogenated oils from its exclusive brand food products, which consists of about 90 percent of the products on its shelves, the company said.

Aldi operates more than 1,600 stores in 35 states.
