Hotel Indigo adds flavor to Water Street District
An interview with Doug Kelly, director of sales at Hotel Indigo.
Q: Tell us a little bit about the Hotel Indigo.
A: No two neighborhoods are alike. Neither are any two Hotel Indigo properties. When you stay with us, you're not just staying anywhere, you're staying somewhere - within a vibrant community, in a unique boutique hotel that combines authentic local experiences, modern design and intimate service with the peace of mind and consistency of staying with one of the world's largest hotel groups.
Each hotel is as individual as its surroundings and is also a reflection of them. You can taste the local flavor on our menus and see it in the art and photography displayed on our walls.
Q: Explain the history.
A: This 150-room boutique hotel is part of the newly developed Water Street District of downtown Naperville. It is designed to be a welcoming respite and an energizing introduction to this truly unique Midwestern community. The Indigo flag was chosen specifically for its superior service, luxury amenities and neighborhood-focus.
Q: Tell us about the renovation in the area.
A: The Water Street development has been under construction since 2015. In addition to the hotel, the development now offers a number of restaurants, boutique shopping and services, as well as Elements Weddings and Banquets, all served by a 520-space on-site parking facility.
Q: What does the venue have to offer when it comes to corporate meetings?
A: Your corporate meeting for 10 or up to 300 will be inspired by the natural decor elements and floor-to ceiling-windows offering views of the Riverwalk and Naperville's dynamic downtown. This impressive venue for your clients and colleagues offers spacious breakout space, and can be customized for boardroom, classroom or large capacity conference or recognition events. Let us plan chef-prepared menus, snacks and beverages while you meet in peaceful river rooms or re-energize on the terrace.
Q: Describe the atmosphere.
A: The hotel, like Naperville itself, is a blend of historic small town charm and vibrant modern sophistication. Throughout our guest rooms and public spaces you will find nods to Naperville's agricultural and industrial past, with images evocative of the river, limestone quarry, horse-trading and furniture manufacturing. Oversized murals, natural stone, woods and metals abound along with stone and wideresidential plank flooring, and a pleasing compliment of modern and traditional furnishings.
Q: Tell us one interesting fact about Hotel Indigo that most people may not know.
A: We are part of IHG, one of the largest hotel brands in the world, with robust booking and rewards program for all types of travel, throughout the world.
Our style reflects our history. Look for 14,000 nailheads detailing our hallways, reflections of the limestone quarry on our glass barn doors and abstract depictions of kroehler furniture-making on murals throughout our guest rooms.
Q: What are people in your industry talking about?
A: Hotel Indigo is typical of the high-end service culture our guests demand. Both business and leisure travelers seek a boutique hotel experience that is both intimate and spacious, allowing them to create their own unique experience. Guests seek venues where they can dine, shop.
