USL's Atlanta United 2 to have new home in 2019
ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta United's second-division team will have a new home in 2019.
After playing its debut season at a minor-league baseball park, Atlanta United 2 is moving to Kennesaw State's football stadium for Year 2.
The United Soccer League team averaged 2,598 per game at Coolray Field in suburban Gwinnett County, also home of the Triple-A Gwinnett Stripers. That ranked 23rd in the 33-team league.
The move to Kennesaw's 8,318-seat Fifth Third Bank Stadium gives Atlanta United 2 a home with a more traditional seating configuration. The venue has hosted a pair of first team matches in the U.S. Open Cup, drawing sellout crowds both times. It's also closer to the team's training facility in Cobb County.
