State offers conference for minority-owned businesses

TINLEY PARK, Ill. (AP) - Businesses owned by women or minorities can learn how to get state business at a conference Saturday in Tinley Park.

The Illinois Department of Transportation's "Summit for Success" will provide assistance in developing skills, knowledge and capabilities to do business with the state.

The meeting will be at the Tinley Park Convention Center.

It will offer workshops, seminars on best practices, and networking opportunities for firms and contractors seeking state work through the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program .

Officials expect attendance at the summit by subcontractors and prime contractors in construction, trucking, engineering and other consulting services.
