5 minutes, 3 holdups, 1 arrest for attempted robber

JOLIET, Ill. (AP) - Joliet police have arrested a Plainfield man on suspicion of attempted bank robbery and driving a stolen vehicle Friday after he allegedly attempted to rob three businesses within five minutes.

Police tell the (Joliet) Herald-News reports that 34-year-old Thomas S. Manaras Jr. suggested he was armed and demanded money at a Burger King drive-thru window at 12:56 p.m. The manager closed the window and called police.

Manaras then allegedly got $12 from a 7-Eleven and yelled, "Where are the big bills?" Police did not say whether a 1 p.m. Chase Bank drive-thru stop yielded any money.

Police stopped Manaras shortly before 1:30 p.m. in a car reported stolen Friday by Aurora police.

Manaras does not have a listed telephone number and it was unclear whether he has an attorney.
