2 youths get 100-plus years in Indiana killing, shootings

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Two Indianapolis youths convicted of killing a man and wounding four others during a late-night series of shootings and robberies have each been sentenced to more than 100 years in prison.

Zion Smith was 16 and Jaquisha Love was 18 in July 2016 when the Marion County prosecutor says they took part in "three and a half hours of senseless violence" in an overnight wave of shootings and robberies.

They were convicted in March on one count of murder, five counts of attempted murder and an armed robbery charge. A judge sentenced Smith to 145 years and Love to 130 years on Wednesday.

Eighteen-year-old Dayron Staten was slain and four others were seriously wounded in the shootings.

Spent cartridges found at the scene matched bullet fragments removed from Staten's body.
