Southern Illinois man gets 26 years for fatal home invasion

PINCKNEYVILLE, Ill. (AP) - A southern Illinois man whose murder conviction was vacated has been sentenced to 26 years for home invasion in connection with the 2010 slaying of a 15-year-old girl.

Robbie Mueller learned his sentence Friday in Perry County Circuit Court.

The Southern Illinoisan reports the 23-year-old Pinckneyville man pleaded guilty to home invasion in March. His sentence for first-degree degree murder had been vacated by the Perry County state's attorney after a post-conviction petition argued his trial attorney inadequately represented Mueller and that Mueller wasn't aware of the decisions he was making in the slaying of Sidnee Stephens.

Mueller has been imprisoned since July 2010.

Two other men were convicted of murder in the case. Carl Dane committed suicide before being transported to prison. James Glazier is serving 60 years.
